Description

This contemporary fully wheelchair accessible bungalow is situated in a quiet cul de sac amongst a cluster of exclusive villas, near the sea in Polis. The owner is a wheelchair user herself, and has designed it carefully providing level access all round the property. It is spacious and on one level, and has been finished to a high standard using local stone, quality ceramic tiles, granite and wood. The large private pool and rear garden enjoy all day sunshine, and there are lovely views in this area. The beautiful garden has been fenced for privacy, and features lemon and orange trees which bear fruit and fill the air with scent from the flowers, and there is a herb garden too.

A leisurely evening stroll into the sleepy traditional village of Polis finds you greeted by a wealth of Cypriot tavernas, restaurants and bars.

The sandy beach is approx 10 - 15 mins walk and there is a regular bus service from Polis to Paphos and Coral Bay. Latchi harbour and sandy beach is 7 minutes drive.

Although Polis is classed as a town, it has a “village” feel to it and has many attractive renovated properties. To give you an idea of its size, you could walk through Polis in 15 minutes. It offers an excellent selection of shops, restaurants, bars, banks etc. and is still extremely “Cypriot”, with most restaurants and shops being run by the family. Cheaper to eat out here than in Paphos, and the restaurants are all in hot competition to serve you the best food and give the friendliest service. On the way in to Polis town, Elena’s is the closest bar (approx 10 mins stroll), and is a lovely spot for a pre dinner drink whilst watching the sun set over your villa. Then a little further up the lane you come to Karouzis taverna where they serve a good meze and seafood. 2 local gems.

The Akamas National Park is nearby, and offers beautiful countryside and uncrowded beaches, all protected from development. These include sandy Lara Bay, where the turtles nest, and Chrysochou Bay, which offers mile after mile of quiet beaches alongside citrus groves, with a dramatic backdrop of hills.

Accommodation

All on one level downstairs:

Open plan living/dining/kitchen area with feature fireplace. The lounge area comprises two red leather sofas (one of which pulls out to be a double sofa bed). Dining area features large glass table with modern comfortable seating. Satellite TV, DVD and a separate CD player.

The fully equipped open plan kitchen has a lower height hob with access underneath for a wheelchair user and the sink is at normal height but also has wheel under access.

There are three good-sized bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, all with high quality beds, orthopaedic mattresses. The master bedroom has a large en-suite wheel-in shower room with wall mounted shower seat, wheel under sink area and grab rails. The further two bedrooms share a second wet room with shower, sink and toilet. There are flyscreens throughout.

Outside: Large private pool with wide Roman steps and 2 sturdy hand rails. BBQ. Large terrace with patio furniture for al fresco meals. Level access/ramps all round the property and wider patio doors leading from the living area onto the terrace. Private parking. The carport has ramped access to the back door and there is a sloping entrance to the front of the villa.

Further wheelchair friendly information: Mobility aids and equipment hire is available upon request. This includes shower chairs, manual and powered wheelchairs, powered scooters, electric hoists for house. Wheelchair accessible taxi/transfer service and boat trips with a hoist for a dip in the Med!

Getting around: There is a portable disabled toilet on Polis beach during the summer and a temporary ramp to the sea. A level, accessible path runs along the shore front from Polis beach to Latchi harbour where most restaurants and bars have a disabled toilet. In particular Zouk cocktail lounge, overlooking the harbour has a disabled toilet. They do good food and have music and entertainment in the evenings.

Logs for fireplace are pre bookable for a reasonable charge
